Water heater manufacturers place tank stickers in different areas. They are typically located near the manufacturer name on the tank, on the upper half portion of the water heater. On this sticker, you will find the model number, serial number, and other information, such as the wattage and voltage (for electric water heaters) or the BTU (for gas water heaters), and tank capacity in Imperial Gallons or US Gallons.

Tankless water heaters are a high-efficiency water heating unit that can provide higher volumes of water than storage tank water heaters, all while saving you energy and money. Tankless water heaters can operate at efficiencies of up to 98% with an energy factor of up to 0.96, while the average energy factor of a residential atmospheric vented water heater is 0.62. Tankless water heaters can supply hot water to multiple fixtures at once to disperse hot water throughout your home without interruption, and once the hot water begins to flow, it never runs out.

Electric water heaters do not require a permit. A permit is required for your new water heater only if it is powered by gas. Please note you do not need a gas permit before you get your new tank. At Water Heater Rescue, we will complete the gas permit paperwork for you and arrange the gas inspection at your convenience.
