Tankless Water Heaters
Plumbing may not seem all that exciting, but there’s a lot to get excited about when it comes to the endless options for plumbing consumers.
Take the tankless water heater, for example. It may look like a rectangle, but it is actually a super intelligent water heater system.
Tankless water heaters have been in use for 20+ years in Asia and Europe, but they have only recently become popular in North America. Tankless units offer endless hot water and operate at a much higher efficiency than traditional storage tank water heaters. Tankless water heaters can operate at efficiencies of up to 98% and can provide hot water to multiple fixtures at once.
Benefits of going tankless:
- Longer lifespan 15-20 years vs 8-10 years for hot water water tank
- Higher energy efficiency
- Space saver
- Endless hot water!
- Increases your home resale value
Some people believe that tankless units aren’t as good as traditional hot water tanks because they do not provide instant hot water like traditional tanks do. However, the cost of “instant” hot water comes at the expense of standby heat loss (heat lost when hot water is not in use), and there are less efficient.
Tankless water heaters heat up the water when you need it, so you will have to wait 30-60 seconds for the hot water to flow. However, once the water is hot, it is endless! You could easily fill a large soaker tub.
